"To photograph truthfully and effectively is to see beneath the surfaces and record the qualities of nature and humanity which live or are latent in all things." [ Ansel Adams (1902-1984) ]

Each person will have his or her own reasons for photographing things or people or places. For me, I like to recall the event and relive the 'emotions of the moment', but the main reason is because I enjoy making pictures.

However, the joy of photography is being emotionally involved and aware of things around me and free to photograph them without restrictions (e.g. the camera, film, rules or formulas, client deadlines, etc.). From an early age, we were taught to communicate and develop our thinking process through the use of pictures and painting. As we matured, the emphasis on the use of the 'written or spoken word' and the acquisition of other analytical skills or tools took priority. The application of visual thinking was discouraged or abandoned.

When photography becomes a hobby or a profession, we are forced to re-examine the familiar things around us and start learning the visual skills. Once again, we see the world through a child's eye. This is the joy of photography - 'seeing'. Aware of people, things and places around you. Observing the familiar in close-up and developing the power of visual thinking. Photography is a medium of self-expression and discovery. It is said that the camera points both ways; expressing the chosen subject through photography, you also manifest your personality for all to observe in your pictures.

The following portfolios showcase a sample of my photography - subjects 'rediscovered' during the past 25 years. If you like my style of photography; photography libraries/agencies, magazine or book publishers, card/calendar companies and picture galleries, please contact me via the e-mail link.

Enjoy!
